Yellow Beetle brooch made of seed beads and embroidery thread by artisans working for Color de Esperanza.

Color de Esperanza is a small business founded by Paola Sanchez to support low-income mothers living in towns outside of Bogotá by teaching them the skills and providing the materials for them to make these lovely brooches while working from home so they can be with their young children. Commonly, women living in the towns where Color de Esperanza is present must commute between 2 and 4 hours round-trip to Bogotá for work.  Color de Esperanza also provides educational workshops and fun gatherings for the workers and their families.

Fun Fact: This beetle is nicknamed the "Brave Beetle," and I met Paola when I was debating launching Casa Granada! The brave beetle gave me the extra push I needed :)
